2009-2010 First Class Members

Michael Zahs from Ainsworth was nominated by the ISEA for the NEA Foundation Awards for Teaching Excellence. He was chosen by his colleagues as the best representative of teaching and learning in Iowa.

The Iowa Department of Education recently honored this year's state finalists for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). Kevin Koepnick of City High School, Iowa City, and Jessica Gogerty, North High School, Des Moines, were finalists in science. Brooke Fischels of Ottumwa High School and Matt Miller of Washington High School, Cedar Rapids, were finalists in math.

Sarah Brown Wessling is the 2010 Iowa Teacher of the Year. Wessling is a high school language arts teacher at Johnston High School.
