ISEA Retired

The successful program "I AM" is open to all active members of ISEA who would like to pre-pay a retired lifetime membership in the Associaton before they retire. You can join ISEA/NEA for life by paying the $613 dues at just $61.30 each year for the next 10 years and never pay retired dues again. You may begin this program regardless of the number of years you have been an active member. Dues increase each year so the "I AM" plan is a money saver because it locks your dues into the current years cost thus avoiding future increases and, of course, in 10 years you will be paid up. Once you have joined the "I AM" program dues will be added to the amount collected through payroll deductions as you are now paying your dues.

Retirement means leaving your job, not your profession. You can still be active in your professional organizaton and those years you've invested in your educational career and your Association will continue. Keep your Member Benefits, add to those you already have, participate in ISEA and NEA meetings and activities including Boards and commiittees, work on issues especially important to retirees such as Social Security and IPERS. ISEA Retired also has a Delta Dental plan, an AAA travel plan, hearing (aid) plan, and we are currently working on a vision plan all of which are available to retired members.

A retired member is someone who has actually retired and that is when these benefits begin (or continue). Prior to that you are considered a pre-retired member.

East Central UniServ Staff Members

Jeremy Kunz, UniServ Director
Jeremy started his teaching career in the Des Moines Public Schools working with Severe and Profound mentally challenged students. He was a local leader with the Des Moines education Association and served on the UniServ Unit Board. In the summer of 2004 he was selected for the UniServ Pre-employment Development Program and completed his internship with Dave Ulrick in East Central. After his internship he was hired by ISEA as a director for the Northeast Iowa Education Unit based out of the Waterloo Regional Office. After three years as Director of NEIEU, Jeremy returned to East Central in 2007 as its 7th UniServ Director.

Coy Marquardt, UniServ Director
A former 7th-grade language arts teacher at Iowa City, Coy began his career as a substitute teacher in Iowa City after receiving his Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Iowa. He also taught a year of 6th grade at East Marshall Middle School in Gilman .

Coy has been involved in a wide variety of Association activities including grievance processing, negotiations, and communications. In addition, he has been deeply involved in political action and has been active in a number of campaigns for pro-education candidates.

A graduate of the NEA UniServ Pre-Employment Development Program, Marquardt received intensive training and brings to his job specific member advocacy skills. He completed his ISEA internship working with now Associate Executive Director Randy Richardson. Coy joined the ECUU staff in 2006.
