Teaching Elementary Math: Early Childhood PK-2

This 1-credit, 4-week course is entirely self-paced and can be taken anytime between July 24, 2025 - August 31, 2025.

At a Glance

Participants will examine common developmental stages in mathematical learning and explore how young learners acquire foundational math skills. The course will address how to identify and respond to common misconceptions and error patterns, as well as how to scaffold instruction to support diverse learners. Participants will learn how to integrate manipulatives, visual models, and technology tools to enhance instruction and engagement. Special attention will be given to differentiating instruction, modifying materials, and designing inclusive lessons that support a wide range of abilities and learning styles.
